Margaret Jones, dressed in his sports gear to represent his love for basketball and the Cardinals, admires a photo of
her son, Jermaine Antonio West Jones. Jermaine, who also loved football, was 26 when he was shot and killed in a drive by shooting outside of this house, his Great Grandmother's, in North St. Louis County. When he passed away he joined his daughter Harmonie, who died at the age of four, just three years prior, due to a heart condition.

The front lawn of his Great Grandmother’s house, and the very spot where Jermaine Antonio West Jones was shot
and killed. This house acted as a gathering spot for multiple generations of the family, where they would often come together to spend time with one another. One of these gathering was happening at the time Jermaine was shot. Unfortunately, Jermaine’s shooting hasn’t been the only one on this block. Another young man was shot and killed
in the middle of the street very close to the family home.

Margaret Jones sits on the steps of her Grandmother's home, surrounded by photos and mementos honoring her son, Jermaine Antonio West Jones. Just a few feet away from these steps, on the front lawn, is where Margaret held
Jermaine after he was shot, as he took his last breaths. It seems to only be right that Jermaine left this world in his mother’s arms, just as he was welcomed into it. The two were extremely close, often being called “twins”, and
as a single mom Margaret saw herself as not only Jermaine’s mother, but his father and best friend too.
